Commemorating the Career of Pat Thiel
This Special Collection honors the seminal and interdisciplinary contributions of Professor Pat Thiel to understanding, observing and controlling surfaces and surface nanostructures. The articles in this issue cover important challenges, new developments, and current understanding in a wide range of topics in Surface Science and in the many fields Pat Thiel influenced and participated in. Topics covered include but are not limited to: supported metal nanoclusters, intercalation in layered materials, nucleation and growth of surface nanoclusters, coarsening of surface nanostructures, alloy, intermetallic, and quasicrystal surfaces, chemisorption and catalysis, and thin film growth.
