Dynamics on Networks with Higher-Order Interactions

The study of dynamical systems on networks relies on the assumption that interactions occur only between pairs of nodes. In many situations, however, interactions between multiple nodes can't be reduced to pairwise interactions, and new descriptions are required. This Focus Issue covers recent developments in the study of dynamical systems on hypergraphs and simplicial complexes, the structures that encode these higher-order interactions. Articles in this Focus Issue cover both specific applications such as synchronization and epidemic spreading, and characterizations of the structure of higher-order interactions relevant to dynamical processes.
