Quantum Biology
Establishing insights into biological processes and their potential to exploit quantum effects such as entanglement, coherence and squeezing is a question of great interest to the quantum science community. So far, experimental demonstrations of quantum physics involve cold matter systems or/and light. It is important to find out if quantum effects persist in hotter, wetter and less controlled environments. Even more relevant is to show that there are biological processes that require quantum theory to reach the efficiencies observed. In this Special Collection we present review articles covering recent progress in the field of quantum biology. Topics of interest include quantum behavior in biomolecules, energy transfer in biological systems and coherence in biological systems.
