Lillian C. McDermott, Ph.D. (1931–2020), was a professor and Director of the Physics Education Group at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington, USA, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the American Physical Society. Dr. McDermott was the recipient of many scientific and academic awards, including the Medal of the International Commission on Physics Education, the Oersted Medal of the American Association of Physics Teachers, the Education Research Award of the Council of Scientific Society Presidents, and the Millikan Lecture Award of the AAPT. Lillian passed away before the publication of this book.
