James T. Dakin, Ph.D., retired from General Electric in 2012 after a 37-year career in lighting technology and is now a consultant. During most of this lighting career and through the present, he has been based in Cleveland, OH, USA. After earning his B.A. from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, USA in 1967 and his Ph.D. from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, USA in 1971, Dr. Dakin worked as a post-doctoral student at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, then briefly as an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, USA. Through the latter two associations, he worked on historic experiments with high energy photons that helped establish the Standard Model. He holds 31 patents and is author to 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, many articles in conference proceedings, and numerous comparable internal technical reports.
