Core and valence band XPS spectra were obtained from a lead metal foil. The XPS data were collected with a VSW HA150 spectrometer equipped with a monochromatic Al Kα x-ray source and multichannel detector. The sample is a high purity lead foil (99.99%) that was cleaned prior to data collection by Ar-ion sputtering. The present work presents a high resolution valence band spectrum which shows a well resolved splitting in the near-edge region. This report also includes the survey spectrum, and Pb 4f, Pb 5d, Pb 4d, O 1s, and C 1s core regions.
