Raman scattering has been used to study the folded acoustic mode structure in strain‐layer GaSb/AlSb lattices with periodic, quasiperiodic, or random‐layer sequencing. In periodic lattices we report on the effects of isolating the strain in a selective layer and on (111)‐ vs (001)‐oriented growth. The quasiperiodic lattice was grown with Fibonacci layer sequencing and its reduced Raman spectrum displayed numerous dips which are associated with gaps in the one‐dimensional vibrational density of states. The lattice grown with nominally random layer sequencing also displayed structure in its reduced Raman spectrum. This structure results from the finite lattice size, the finite sampling depth, and any local bias in the random sequencing.
