Demonstration to a lay audience of echo ranging Free

The principle of echo ranging has been demonstrated to a variety of nontechnical groups using a mechanical halloween cricket as a pulsed sound source and a microphone, horn, amplifier, and oscilloscope as a receiver. A few related demonstrations will also be described. Groups which have observed the demonstration include cub scouts, high school students, science teachers, and women's clubs.
