The new home of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra was inaugurated on 24 January 1968. This concert hall was reconstructed from a large motion picture theater first opened in 1925. This paper describes the major problems encountered in the reconstruction of the house, the changes that were made, the design of the stage enclosure, the finishes and furnishings, and the resulting reverberation‐time characteristics of the Hall.
