Previous research has shown a positive relationship, across frequencies, between frequency discrimination limens and critical‐ratio size; these were based upon data obtained from groups of subjects (S's). The question was therefore raised as to whether or not the critical ratio was related to the frequency‐discrimination ability of individual S's. The present study shows a complete lack of relationship between critical ratios and frequency discrimination limens of individual S's at a frequency of 1000 Hz.
