Computations of sea‐surface and volume reverberations are presented to demonstrate that these reverberation contributions are at least 10 dB below the observed bottom reverberation of Mackenzie [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 33, 1498–1504 (1961)] and consequently cause no ambiguity in Mackenzie's analysis of bottom reverberation, as suggested by Goodman [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 37, 174(L) (1965)].
