The determination of the mode shapes and frequencies of the axisymmetric vibrations of a spheroidal shell is reduced to the solution of an ordinary second‐order differential equation, in which the eccentricity of the ellipse and Poisson's ratio are parameters. The first four mode shapes and frequencies are found for each of five eccentricities, by means of numerical integration of the equation. It is found that the frequencies associated with the higher modes are strongly dependent on the eccentricity.
