Numerical Evaluation of the Ultrasonic Attenuation in Metals as a Function of the Magnetic Field

The expression for S₁₁ for the ultrasonic attenuation in metals as a function of the magnetic field, as given by Cohen, Harrison, and Harrison, has been calculated numerically on the IBM‐1620 digital computer for an interval of magnetic‐field values corresponding to those obtainable in the laboratory. The results are compared with those given by Cohen et al., which corresponds to retaining only the n = 0 term in a certain series. The actual values of S₁₁ obtained with n>0 are quite high as compared to those obtained by using the approximation.
