An equation is given for the speed of sound in sea water. The experimental data used to determine this equation were obtained in the temperature, pressure, and salinity ranges −4°C <T <30°C, 1 kg/cm2 <P <1000 kg/cm2, and 0‰ <S <3‰. The standard deviation of the experimental data was found to be 0.30 m/sec.
