A plastic wedge angle probe for a reflectoscope for nondestructive testing purposes is described, in which the amount of energy transferred to the object under test is measured, in order to be sure that enough energy is available for testing welds, machine parts, etc. The amplitude of the compressional wave reflected into the plastic wedge is measured by means of a second crystal. The pulse amplitude acoustically compensates for one extreme coupling case. The measurements were done at 2.5 Mc/sec.
