The true transient response of a piezoelectric vibration pick‐up (Brush type BL‐301) to square waves and steps of displacement has been obtained with a transient‐testing transducer system. The anomalous response of the pick‐up to these transient motions is in the nature of superimposed oscillations of high frequency. These spurious oscillations in the step response have their counterpart in the multiple resonances of the crystal element as indicated by the steady‐state cissoidal calibration of the pick‐up.
