Biomedical Photonics
APL Photonics is a home for contributions that range from fundamental to applied multidisciplinary research anchored in photonics, as well as a platform for next-generation innovations in the field. An important example of these innovations includes applications that tie photonics to human health which are arguably among the most impactful to modern society. The compilation of articles featured here introduces the wide reach of applications of photonics to the field of biomedicine. The research collected here comprise a multitude of biomedical photonics topics including novel instrumentation for seeing deeper inside tissue for better diagnostics of disease, exemplifying the crucial role that light plays in the discovery of new approaches to improve human well-being.
