A new design for a solder‐sealed demountable vacuum can that can be cycled to liquid helium temperature is described. This design is the basis of a ’’dip probe’’ used with a commercial helium storage Dewar that permits rapid turnaround cryogenic measurements at temperatures above 4.2 K. It has significant advantages over gasket‐sealed designs from the standpoint of bulkiness, weight, and reliability.
