The quality of x‐ray diffraction patterns made with copper radiation and recorded on Polaroid film by use of a fluorescent screen can be significantly improved. Screens with zinc sulfide layers dimensioned for complete utilization of copper radiation and reduced conversion of the continuous spectrum provide a sixfold reduction in background compared to that of patterns prepared with commercial screens.
