A liquid surface electrostatic precipitator for fission product monitoring is described. The precipitation electrode is made of a double wire arrangement which guides a liquid flow. Collected activities are detected by means of a Čerenkov detector. The precipitator has been operated with water as the precipitation medium at a flow of about 0.5 cm3/sec. Experiments indicate a precipitation efficiency of 70% and a detector efficiency for 88Rb of up to 80%.
