A precision apparatus for applying liquid in uniform droplets to test surfaces has been described. The mean diameter of the droplets can be varied from 0.045 to 0.450 mm.

The tip of the stylus as the anode and a copper wire as the cathode are dipped into a solution of sodium chloride. A potential of 6v is applied to the system and, by skillful handling of the tip of the stylus at the surface of the solution, metal is removed to form a smooth tapered point.

Both anticholinesterase and DEP (diethylphthalate) were used for the delivery studies. The agents were dyed with Williams Red (Color index 288) and carefully filtered before use.
