Krafft has advised in a private communication that in work subsequent to his publication he has found the “no current” signal generated with advance wire gauges on steel bars to be very small compared to that generated with iso‐elastic gauges. These results have convinced him that most of the effect he originally ascribed to magnetostriction in the bar was in reality due to the gauges.
