Focus and Coverage
Physics of Plasmas (PoP), published by AIP Publishing in cooperation with the APS Division of Plasma Physics, is committed to the publication of original research in all areas of experimental, computational, and theoretical plasma physics.
PoP publishes comprehensive and in-depth review manuscripts and forward-looking perspectives covering important areas of study. The Physics of Plasmas publishes the Special Issue of invited, tutorial and review papers from the APS Annual Meeting of the Division of Plasmas Physics and Special Topics highlighting new and cutting-edge developments in plasma physics.
The journal is open access in 2024 at no charge to authors as part of AIP Publishing's Subscribe to Open pilot. This means it is free to publish open access in 2024 for authors, and all articles published in 2024 are free to read by everyone around the world in perpetuity.
PoP welcomes manuscripts across the full range of applied and fundamental research in this dynamic field, including:
- Basic plasma phenomena, waves, instabilities
- Nonlinear phenomena, turbulence, transport
- Magnetically confined plasmas, heating, confinement
- Inertially confined plasmas, high-energy density plasma science, warm dense matter
- Heliospheric and astrophysical plasmas
- Plasma-based accelerators, beams, radiation generation
- Radiation emission, absorption, and transport
- Low-temperature plasmas, plasma applications, plasma sources, sheaths
- Dusty plasmas
- Numerical Methods, Verification and Validation in Plasma Physics
