An analytic study of small amplitude perturbations of a cyclindrical tokamak, using the nonlinear, helically symmetric, reduced magnetohydrodynamic equations of Kadomtsev and Rosenbluth is presented. Results are compared with those of a numerical study of these reduced equations.
