The Journal of Chemical Physics is pleased to announce the 8 July 2008 launch of a new online system that will facilitate all aspects of manuscript submission, peer review, and manuscript tracking. Through the Peer X-Press service of the American Institute of Physics, the Journal’s author, reviewer, and editorial community will perform all tasks associated with the peer review process over the web in a user-friendly environment. The Journal of Chemical Physics now joins the other AIP-owned journals in utilizing Peer X-Press to provide effective tools to assist authors, reviewers, and editors in efficiently conducting the peer review process, while meeting the ever-increasing demands of rapid online publication. Visit the Journal’s new online system at http://jcp.peerx-press.org on or soon after its 8 July 2008 launch date.
Members of the journal community may find that their contact information has been converted to the new editorial database within Peer X-Press, and accounts may have been pre-established for them. We encourage these partners to proceed to http://jcp.peerx-press.org, click on the link for “Unknown/Forgotten password?,” and follow the instructions there. In most cases, your preassigned login name will be the full e-mail address that the Editorial Office had on record at the time of your last interaction with the Journal. Those new to The Journal of Chemical Physics are encouraged to register new accounts at the same URL, following the link labeled, “New users should register for an account.”
We encourage you to update your profile in the Journal’s Peer X-Press system. The Editors will use designated areas of expertise in the profile data as a resource for selecting potential reviewers. Keeping this information up to date will ensure that potential referees have opportunities to review new papers in the fields in which they have the most interest and/or expertise.
Please note that manuscripts submitted before the 8 July 2008 launch of the Journal’s Peer X-Press system will continue in the review process using our traditional web upload and e-mail-based procedures, as outlined in the instructions located at http://jcp.uchicago.edu. If you have such a manuscript under review, do not attempt to upload your revised files into Peer X-Press; instead, upload revised manuscripts via the standard link at http://jcp.uchicago.edu. Authors and reviewers of manuscripts submitted before 8 July 2008 should send correspondence and reviewer reports, as usual, via e-mail to the appropriate JCP Editorial Office. If you have any questions about a manuscript currently in the peer review process, please contact the editorial office, via e-mail, at editor@jcp.uchicago.edu.
For manuscripts submitted on or after 8 July 2008, all participants in the peer review process must use the Journal’s new site at http://jcp.peerx-press.org. Direct questions about using the new web-based editorial system to pxphelp@aip.org; direct all other questions to the appropriate Editorial Office. Contact information for each of the Journal’s Editorial Offices is available through the “contact editorial office” link, located in the top banner at http://jcp.peerx-press.org.
We look forward to hearing your suggestions for enhancing this valuable service to the journal community; please use the “Suggestions” link, located at the top right-hand corner of most pages in the system. Thank you for your ongoing support of The Journal of Chemical Physics.
