The vaporization of Hg/l was studied by high temperature mass spectrometry with a Knudsen cell in the temperature range 300–386 K. The partial pressure of the molecule Hg2 was determined as: log(p/Pa) = −5859 K/T+11.19. The following enthalpies of vaporization and dissociation were obtained for Hg2 (g):ΔvapH°298 = 114±2 kJ mol−1 and D°298 = 8±2 kJ mol−1.
