A proof is given of a simple linear relation between the Madelung constant, referred to the lattice parameter a, of a cubic perovskite structure ABX3 with the ionic charges in the ratio +z:+(3—z):—1 and the corresponding Madelung constants for the NaCl, CsCl, and Cu2O structures.
