Spectroscopy and Microscopy of Plasmonic Systems
Characterization of plasmonic systems can be done with sub-nm resolution using a variety of spectroscopy- and microscopy-based techniques using either the photon or electron as probes. The high spatial resolution correlated with spectral response provides a wealth of information about plasmonic excitations, near-field distributions and molecular properties at the nanoscale. Advances in the characterization of plasmonic systems drives their applications in fields including optoelectronics, biological and chemical sensing, catalysis, energy transfer and light harvesting. This Special Topic highlights recent theoretical and experimental advances in the spectroscopy and microscopy of plasmonic systems.
