Chemical Physics of Supercooled Water

Supercooled water is very important in many fields including cloud physics, astrophysics, cryobiology and cryoengineering. On a more fundamental level, investigating supercooled water can help us to understand the anomalous properties of water, some of which are enhanced in the metastable state. This Special Topic in The Journal of Chemical Physics aims to cover recent advances in the experiments, theoretical modeling, and simulations in the following areas: Amorphous and crystalline ices; Glassy dynamics in water; Ice nucleation; Liquid-liquid phase transition; Structural studies in supercooled states; Supercooled water in confinement; Thermodynamics modeling; Supercooled aqueous solutions; Supercooled bio-solutions; Clathrate hydrates.
