Shock Behavior of Materials
The physics governing the response of materials to shock loading has numerous applications in various fields, from basic research such as Earth and planetary science or warm dense matter to engineering principles such as safety, pyrotechnics, and impact strength. It motivates active research worldwide, including experimental developments with in-situ and time-resolved measurements, modern theoretical approaches, and multi-scale simulations. This Special Topic will provide a broad picture of the area of shock loading physics and inspire further work.
