It is shown that desktop computers are excellent tools for carrying out the detailed calculations necessary in molecular dynamics simulations. The high‐quality graphical capabilities of these machines allow detailed visual presentations of dynamically evolving collision cascades which can help provide new insights into the mechanisms by which atoms are ejected.
