Spectral fringes due to Fabry–Pérot (FP) modes have been observed in individual thiophene/phenylene co-oligomer nanoneedle crystals with lengths of 6.4–14.6 μm in spontaneous emission spectra under weak light excitation. The mode spacing depended on the crystal lengths, indicating that both end facets acted as FP cavities. However, the nonuniformity and the degradation of the contrasts of the fringes were caused by the multiple transverse modes formed in the nanoneedles. From a calculation of electromagnetic modes, sectional dimensions of a nanoneedle with single transverse mode had to be at least less than 80 nm × 160 nm.
