With the pandemic spreading around the world, the health and safety of our staff and students at the University of Technology Brunei (UTB) is our top priority. UTB has put in place an academic continuity plan to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 while ensuring the continuity of teaching and research operations, including the move to online and remote instructions. The aim was to maintain distance between lecturers and students and avoid long hours in classrooms, laboratories and common rooms. UTB had added other online education platforms such as Zoom, Skype and Teams to the university’s existing Learning Management System (Moodle). Blended learning was a familiar approach at UTB, but it was still important to investigate the effectiveness of 100% online teaching in this context. The study aimed to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of online teaching, explore student experience and satisfaction, and identify potential challenges in the transition to online learning. Questionnaires were distributed to UTB students during the outbreak. The results of the study concluded that students prefer blended learning to online learning.
