A fluorescence signal detection system has been designed and realized on a portable scale using a lock-in amplifier. This method was not only to identify ingredients but also able to detect while the material is still pure or has been mixed. The research is proposed to characterize a portable fluorescence detector that is used to identify of patchouly oils pure and mixed with kerosene. The main problem in detecting fluorescence signals was related to its weakness and short in time and to overcome the noise. A special method has been used to overcome problems using a lock-in amplifier. The working principle of a lock-in amplifier is that the signal is duplicated many times and stored in a high-quality capacitor with a very low leakage rate so that the signal is cleaned from noise. The obtained results show that pure patchouli and mixed with kerosene gives the different number of results that have been displayed in an arbitrary unit (AU).
