Jarong [Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl] is Indonesian medicinal plant that used in traditional medicine. This plant has many bioactivities like antiinflammatory, diuretic, and antidiarrhea but the potential to mediate a cancer chemopreventive effect has not been reported. In this study, ethanolic and dichloromethane extract of leaves, stems, and flowers of [Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (L.) Vahl] were evaluated to two cancer cell lines i.e. HeLa and T47D for cytotoxic activity. The results showed that ethanolic extract of three parts of the plant have not cytotoxic activities for both cancer cell lines. The dichloromethane extract of stems and flowers have no cytotoxic activities too. The dichloromethane extract of leaves showed cytotoxic activities in HeLa and T47D cell line with IC50 values of 84,198 µg/ml for HeLa and 64,167 µg/ml for T47D.
