In this research, we have developed a new chloride ion image sensor that displayed dynamic 2D images of the local concentration. The chloride sensitive membrane was prepared by casting a tetrahydrofuran solution containing a PVC membrane with manganese (III) porphyrin onto a CCD-type pH image sensor. The fabricated chloride ion sensor showed a near Nernst response at the concentration of 10−1-10−2 M and a super-Nernst response at the concentration of 10−2-10−3 M. In addition, the selectivity for anion ions did not follow the classical Hofmeister series. The selectivity for chloride ion was higher than those of perchlorate ion, bromide ion and iodide ion. These results were due to the complexation with the chloride ion peculiar to the metalloporphyrin.
