A new variety of Michelia with strong heterosis, high ornamental and wide adaptability was bred to provide breeding guarantee for ornamental tree species in South China. Hybrid breeding experiment was carried out with Michelia maudiae as male parent and Michelia macclurei as female parent. The results showed that ‘Zhonglinhanxiao’ had excellent ornamental characters, stable ornamental characters and wide adaptability. It was suitable for cultivation in southern China, especially in most areas south of the Yangtze River.
