Thanks to their excellent imaging performances, the single photon counting hybrid pixel detectors, became the major scientific instruments for many diffraction applications at synchrotron radiation facilities. In order to respond to current and future requirements at SOLEIL synchrotron, especially for time-resolved pump-probe experiments, the Detector Group, in collaboration with the Control and Data Acquisition Electronics group, have started the development of a new camera prototype based on the UFXC32k single photon counting readout circuit. In this work, the architecture and development status of the new 2-chip camera prototype is presented. Additionally, the preliminary characterization results obtained in laboratory are presented.
