This paper describes the interaction between primary school children and furniture as the learning facilities. The aim of the study was to acquire the users’ preferences on classroom furniture design in the primary school. Ethnographic methods were used through participant observation and interview. The subjects consisted of the first and second-grade students, the classroom teacher, and the janitor of the primary school. The study resulted in four design directions for designing classroom furniture, namely: storage, flexibility, size, and dynamics. These were used for designing a new classroom furniture. The design evaluation was done by six children and six teachers using pictorial stimuli. Although different concerns were observed between the subjects, this study revealed functionality, comfort, and security aspects were preferred than the aesthetic aspect.
