Steganography is a technique of hiding information in digital media. In this paper we have developed a technique for image steganography that is very much secure. The basic idea is to use the whole byte of a pixel to store the data. In this technique mapping of the letters to the pixels is used to hide the information in the cover image and a key value is created for each letter. Various experiments have been performed and it is found that there are no changes in the stego image after the mapping. The results also show that hidden information cannot be detected using statistical attacks and also there are no visual distortions in image as well.
