We investigate the depth profile of the piezoelectric field of a surface acoustic wave (SAW) using a multiple undoped GaAs (001) quantum well sample (MQW) composed of 5 quantum wells of thickness 8, 10, 12, 15 and 20 nm placed at a depths of 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 nm, respectively. The piezoelectric field along the growth direction of the MQW sample was numerically calculated. Information about the field distribution is obtained by measuring the screening efficiency of a semitransparent metal placed in the acoustic beam.
