Cobalt Magnesium Ferrites (CoMgFe2O4) were synthesized by a sol gel method. Cobalt nitrate, ferri nitrate, polyvinyl alcohol, and citric acid mixed and stirred at 80°C for 24h, then calcined at 500°C for 2 h. The resulting product is characterized by SEM-EDX. The results revealed that cobalt percentage on the surface (≈ 6,59%) and with respect to x = 0.1 of Co0.1Mg0.9Fe2O4. This study aims to determine the ability of CoMgFe2O4 to adsorb Malachite Green (MG) with a column system. The theoretical concentration in efffluent evaluated with Thomas model. The test results show that the Ct predictive value accordance with the experimental results. Desorption of CoMgFe2O4 with 0.01M NaOH solution show that with 3 times elution, all MG which are bound to the adsorbent can be released.
