X(3872) as a near‐threshold state in the coupled‐channel model for charmonia levels

A coupled‐channel approach for charmonia levels is formulated, based on the ³P₀ model for pair creation. Special attention is paid to the levels above the open‐charm threshold. It is shown, in particular, that the coupling of the 2³P₁ c̄c state to the DD^* channel generates a well‐pronounced near‐threshold state. Interrelation between this state and the recently discovered mesonic state X(3872) is discussed.
