An experimental set up for a Shack‐Hartmann sensor for measuring the aberrations of human eyes from the reflected laser light on the retina is presented. The Shack‐Hartmann sensor measures the wavefront of the light coming out of the eye pupil and consists of an array of microlenses and a CCD sensor. The characteristics of the microlenses array and the optical components selected to construct the sensor are described. An experimental model of eye is also described to simulate a real eye under measurement. Preliminary results of the patterns of spots obtained with this system, their qualitative interpretation, as well as the quantitative evaluation of the aberrations of the eye model are presented.
