Heat and particle control is an essential issue in tokamak fusion research. Heat control using edge radiation losses and cold divertor plasmas is needed for mitigation of the severe problem of the concentrated power loading on the divertor plates. Understanding particle (hydrogen isotopes, helium and impurity) behavior in cold divertor plasmas is needed for control of fuel density, reduction of fuel dilution and control of radiation losses. Atomic and molecular processes play important roles for the edge radiation losses and particle behavior in the cold divertor plasmas. Atomic and molecular data are applied to studying the processes.
