Thank you for inviting me to open this Workshop on Polarized Electron Sources and Polarimeters, PES2000. I have been actively involved with polarized electrons for many years, and the experimental results using the polarized electrons at high energies have been important to the progress in High Energy Physics. I would like to give you a brief history of these historical developments.
