This paper reviews the schemes of two beam accelerators proposed for electron-positron colliders in the TeV energy range. Attention is given to the different methods of generating and handling the high-charge drive beam. Different options are discussed, and in particular three different possibilities for the generation of the drive beam for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) project are described.
