This paper presents performance data on the long‐term outdoor testing of amorphous silicon (a‐Si), copper indium diselenide (CIS), and cadmium telluride (CdTe) modules undergoing performance testing at the Outdoor Test Site at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) over the past several years [1]. The paper also presents data on several of the emerging and commercial PV technology systems being monitored at NREL over the past few years [2,3]. Outdoor tests are an important consideration in evaluating and assessing performance and reliability—especially for the advanced, potentially low‐cost thin‐film technologies.
