Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral diseases in Indonesia. It is a multifactorial disease involving bacteria as an infectious agent that can cause tooth loss and tooth loss in severe stages. Porphyromonas gingivalis is one of the three main periodontal bacteria that cause periodontal disease based on its virulence factor. Management of this disease can be done with scaling and root planning (SRP) and treatment using antibiotics to prevent the growth of periodontal bacteria. However, some bacteria are known to be resistant to certain antibiotics, causing treatment to be ineffective. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of clindamycin and doxycycline antibiotics against Porphyromonas gingivalis using a sensitivity test. A sensitivity test was conducted using Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC 33277 by Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method. The bacteria were treated with clindamycin 4 µg/ml and 8 µg/ml, doxycycline 4 µg/ml and 8 µg/ml, distilled water as negative control, chlorhexidine 0.2% as positive control. The sensitivity test was conducted with five repetitions. The results showed that all clindamycin and doxycycline test groups showed antibacterial power with the highest response produced by clindamycin 8 µg/ml. Kruskal Wallis test showed a significance value of 0.000 with a p value of 0.05. Based on the results of the sensitivity test, it is known that clindamycin and doxycycline are effective against Porphyromonas gingivalis and show significant differences in results at each concentration.
