The use of technology into language education has radically altered conventional methods, improving both accessibility and participation. This study examines how diverse technology breakthroughs, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), mobile learning applications, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and gamification, have transformed the language acquisition process. AI-driven systems like as Duolingo and Babbel provide customized learning experiences by adjusting lesson complexity and material according on a learner’s advancement, hence enhancing the efficiency and personalization of language teaching. These platforms use algorithms to assess student performance, enabling real-time interactions and feedback that promote ongoing development. Mobile learning, enabled by applications like Memrise and Rosetta Stone, has transformed education by enabling users to practice languages at any location and time. Mobile devices have enhanced the flexibility of learning, while gamified components such as points, incentives, and leaderboards incentivize users to interact continuously, so augmenting retention and practice frequency. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology provide immersive educational experiences by replicating real-world situations and incorporating language into the learners’ context. For example, virtual reality enables users to explore unfamiliar environments, such as marketplaces and restaurants, while practicing conversations in a realistic situation without stress. Augmented reality improves vocabulary acquisition by superimposing digital words onto tangible items in the learner’s surroundings, so making the learning process more participatory. Social media sites like as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram have significantly contributed by offering access to local speakers and authentic language use via concise, compelling video. These platforms promote collaborative learning, allowing learners to share ideas, practice speaking, and get feedback from peers or native speakers, so enhancing the experience’s dynamism. Moreover, adaptive learning technologies use data-driven insights to personalize courses according to a learner’s strengths and limitations, so providing relevant, customized information that maintains engagement. Immediate feedback enables learners to rectify errors quickly, enhancing retention and fluency. As technology progresses, its influence on language acquisition is expected to grow, providing learners with more inventive, immersive, and efficient methods for mastering new languages.
